James Roger “Jack” Vickery OBITUARY

A longtime resident of San Diego, Jack ed away peacefully on April 25, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1934 in Cody, Wyoming.

Jack led a dynamic life marked by entrepreneurship and adventure. He served in the U.S. Army and later he built a successful career in real estate as a partner of Vickery & White Realtors.

He played varsity football at Hoover High and co-founded the “Creepers” car club. He flew to all corners of the globe, sailed the Pacific and traversed all of North America in his campers and motorhomes.

He was always full of big ideas. While living in Del Mar with his family they invented Porta-Leggs, an RV accessory and grew it into a successful business.

Jack developed numerous apartment complexes and was a pioneer of condominium conversions. He owned and operated a mid-sized hotel with his wife Donna.

He was known for his generous spirt, love and enthusiasm. Jack encouraged those lucky enough to be around him to live life to the fullest.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Diana; brothers Roy and Dean; and wives Patti and Dianne.

He is survived by his wife Donna; sister Glenda; children Laura, Glen and Scott; stepchildren Cheryl and Dana; and grandchildren Baron and Amanda.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 8, 2025 in Mission Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of San Diego.
