UPDATED:

Patrick Henry, the No. 7 seed, went on the road and beat No. 2 Santa Margarita and No. 3 Encino Crespi.

But the Patriots couldn’t catch No. 1-seeded  St. John Bosco, which won 4-0 on Saturday in Bellflower.

The Braves (30-4), ranked No. 1 in California and No. 3 in the country MaxPreps.com, ran their winning streak to 19 games.

Jimmy Gunn, a junior, pitched well in relief for the Patriots, throwing one-hit shutout ball over the final four innings while striking out three.

Ian Brooke, Cody Cappelletti and Kayden Henson had Patrick Henry’s only three hits.

The Patriots, who lost to Granite Hills in the San Diego Section Open Division title game and start only three seniors, finish 23-11-2.
