The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday afternoon on southbound Interstate 5 near the Las Pulgas Road exit near Camp Pendleton.
Emergency crews closed multiple lanes of the freeway just after 12:45 p.m. while authorities responded to the scene, where a motorcyclist collided with another vehicle, the CHP reported.
An air ambulance was dispatched to the accident site, but the identity of the victim was not immediately released. All of the traffic lanes were reopened within about three hours.
No further details were available, a CHP dispatcher said.
