Re “ICE agents conduct raid at Buona Forchetta, popular South Park restaurant” (May 30): I’m puzzled by the negative public reaction to the ICE raid and arrests at the Buona Forchetta locations. I’m certain that area restaurants will find an ample supply of local teenagers who are eager to drop their iPhones and cancel summer sports camps for the opportunity to scrub pots and pans for eight hours and earn minimum wage plus shared tips. Make America Mediocre Again.

I want to thank ICE for its successful raid on the undocumented restaurant workers. No longer will I fear going into a restaurant that harbors these criminals working 10-hour days as cooks, dishwashers and servers who in reality are criminals or terrorists out to harm us. I am sure that many legal Americans will be clamoring to take these attractive jobs especially now that tips may no longer be taxed. Way to go, ICE!

I am almost 80 years old and have never seen anything so ugly as masked government “thugs” bearing automatic weapons going into a small beloved local neighborhood restaurant where our sons, daughters and neighbors work. This istration says it’s to arrest criminals. Really? How about all hands on the cartel issue and not risking lives of innocent diners, wait staff, cooks?

The most despicable was the cowardice of ICE officers who hide their faces. They know they are doing something morally wrong. I’m reminded of a 1962 high school class called “Problems in American Democracy.” What we now have is a serious problem and I don’t think the U-T is aggressively standing up against this type of community terrorizing.
