Cub Scouts from Pack 734, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Del Mar-Solana Beach, ed volunteers at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on May 24 to honor fallen service by placing American flags at their graves.
Memorial Day is a time to and pay tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. For the scouts, this experience offered a meaningful way to understand the true purpose of the holiday, not just a long weekend, but a solemn reminder of the sacrifices that preserve our freedoms. a news release stated.
Walking quietly among the rows of white headstones, the scouts placed flags with care and respect, pausing to reflect on the lives represented there. It was a powerful lesson in gratitude, patriotism, and civic responsibility.
