A man who allegedly entered a Lemon Grove home and threatened to shoot someone was detained Monday night following an hours-long SWAT standoff, sheriff’s officials said.

The 25-year-old suspect entered the home on Skyline Drive near Canton Drive about 2 p.m. and threatened to shoot someone with a handgun, said sheriff’s officials. A resident used a golf club to disarm the man. Residents tried to detain the man until deputies arrived, but he was able to escape and hide in the house, authorities said.

Residents evacuated the home, and SWAT deputies and crisis negotiators worked to get him to surrender. He was eventually arrested around 8 p.m.

He was treated for unspecified injuries sustained during the struggle with residents, officials said.
