The spring postseason continues for several high school sports as the school year winds down. Here’s what’s been happening for the three La Jolla schools.
Track and field
La Jolla High’s Chiara Dailey, the state leader in the girls 1,600- and 3,200-meter races, swept both in the San Diego Section track and field championships May 24 at Mount Carmel High School in Rancho Peñasquitos.
Dailey, a junior, was challenged in both events by Eastlake’s Jaelyn Williams but beat her to the finish in 4:43.57 to Williams’ 4:44.71 in the 1,600 and 10:15.74 to 10:16.39 in the 3,200.
Ayanna Hickey of The Bishop’s School was third in the 1,600 with a time of 4:56.62
Dailey, who won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter titles in the Division III competition May 17, now advances to the state championships Saturday, May 31, in Clovis, where she again will face Williams in the 3,200. Dailey is looking for her first state gold medal. — The San Diego Union-Tribune

Bishop’s and La Jolla High
The Bishop’s Knights and La Jolla Vikings both faced elimination in the San Diego Section Division III playoffs when they faced off May 23.
Sixth-seeded La Jolla had defeated No. 11 Westview in the first round and lost to No. 3 Clairemont in the second round, setting up the in-town showdown against the seventh-seeded Knights, who earlier in the tournament defeated No. 10 Imperial and lost to No. 2 University City.
Bishop’s kept its season alive, and ended La Jolla’s, with a 5-2 victory that sent the Knights to a fourth-round game May 24 against Clairemont.
Bishop’s pulled the upset with a 9-8 win and advanced to the semifinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, on the road against University City.
La Jolla Country Day
The Torreys continued their quest for a San Diego Section Division I title with a third-round matchup against second-seeded Cathedral Catholic on May 23.
Sixth seed Country Day was coming off victories over No. 11 Scripps Ranch and No. 3 Point Loma before taking on the Dons, who were too much for the Torreys in a 10-3 victory.
The loss pushed Country Day into an elimination game the next day in a rematch with Point Loma, which this time came out on top, 8-5, ending the Torreys’ season.

La Jolla High
The Vikings, who opened the Division V playoffs as the No. 2 seed by rolling over No. 7 High Tech San Diego 13-1 in the first round, kept their offense hot against No. 3 Southwest High on May 23.
La Jolla won a 12-10 slugfest to advance to the fourth round vs. No. 6 Crawford at 4 p.m. May 27. ♦
