Re “A woman drove into a San Diego military facility by mistake. She now faces deportation.” (May 8): I just read about the woman, Ana Camero, who accidentally drove onto the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Because she didn’t have identification, the guards called Border Patrol, she was detained and will most likely be deported.

I also accidentally drove up to the gates of Naval Hospital near Balboa Park a few years ago, and, while the guard wasn’t happy, I was not asked for identification, I was simply told to turn around. Could it be because I am a white woman? Think about that.
