Torrey Pines High School’s girls varsity softball team secured first place in the Coastal North County League May 15 with a win over La Costa Canyon High School.

Torrey Pines softball has now won this league four out of the last five years. The combination of stellar pitching, timely hits, solid defense and smart base running allowed an impressive 8-2 record for the league, according to a news release. The varsity team will now head to CIF playoffs next week.
