Re “Major cuts proposed for parks, bathrooms as San Diego wrestles with budget” (May 10): As a volunteer ambassador at Balboa Park, I am truly shocked at two planned changes — paying to park and reducing the number of restrooms. At my information kiosk alone, I greet 200 to 400 visitors each day and the Visitor Center handles many more. The park runs on the services of more than 300 volunteers.  I have spoken to volunteers and employees (who work for an nonprofit and are not well paid) who state they would have to quit their service to the park if they were forced to pay for parking. And the idea of cutting the number of restrooms is insulting to our thousands upon thousands of visitors from all over the world, from every state in the union, and every part of San Diego County.  This is the most short-sighted and ill-advised cost-cutting measure. Does anyone planning the budget think about the consequences of these cuts?
