UPDATED:

A vehicle slammed into the front of a La Jolla business early Tuesday in a burglary, resulting in thousands of dollars of losses and the deaths of multiple fish at an eyewear store, San Diego police said.

The incident was reported around 4 a.m. at Eyestructure, an eyewear store on Prospect Street.

An aquarium within the store was smashed, resulting in the deaths of the fish it contained, police said.

Police estimated that the damages and the stolen merchandise resulted in around $100,000 in losses.

The vehicle drove away from the scene. Police did not have a description of the vehicle or a suspect.

Attempts to reach Eystructure were not successful.
