La Jolla beaches need to be returned to humans

I couldn’t agree more with those who say the seals and sea lions are the primary problem we La Jollans face.

Our best beaches are being taken over by them. Most outrageous was the decision to ignore Ellen Browning Scripps’ generous gift to our children — and adults as well — and turn over the Children’s Pool to the seals. I loved taking my little daughters to that beach, but now I have no local beach to take my grandson to.

As for the other beaches, my niece recently reported that while swimming at The Cove she kept bumping into sea lions.

There is still time to return our beaches to humans by taking the seals and sea lions to distant beaches, where they should have been taken in the first place.

We have some of the most beautiful beaches and best weather in the world; tourists will continue to come here even without the seals and sea lions.
