A 26-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal Lemon Grove shooting, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said.

Andrew Gomez Cardona was arrested in El Cajon on suspicion of murder in the death of 51-year-old Anthony Trujillo of Lemon Grove.

On Monday afternoon, deputies responded to Kunkel Park in Lemon Grove regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and found Trujillo lying on the ground.

He had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, officials said.

Trujillo was transported to a hospital but died due to his injuries.

Cardona was arrested at home on Magnolia Avenue in El Cajon but allegedly told investigators that he was a resident of Lemon Grove.
