The Knights of Columbus 29th annual Lenten Fish Fry will begin March 7 and continue every Friday from 4-7 p.m. through April 11.

The once-a-week feast will feature beer-battered fried or baked Atlantic cod, French fries or mashed potatoes, rolls, coleslaw, tarter sauce, lemon wedges, coffee and punch.

Dinners will be held in the social center at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 537 E St.

A lot of volunteer effort goes into making this an exceptional fish fry. Every year Brian Douglas searches for the best fish, combined with Martha Johnston’s special beer batter recipe while our experienced fryers Ty Kramer and Jim Gallagher consistently produce a tasty piece of beer battered cod.

In addition, Carl Reese  will be making his homemade Jalapeño dinner rolls while our Angels in Service staff assembles a fresh creamy Cole slaw. Our thick, rich clam chowder soup is such a big hit, that you may want to arrive early as it sells out fast.

The event gives of the community an opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors. Dinners are open to the public, and the social center is often packed with repeat guests who make it an annual tradition.

Cost is $16 for two pieces and the fixings with clam chowder soup available for $6 and soda and bottled water for $2. A four-piece dinner (the Carl) and a children’s one-piece fish with fries are also available.

The fish fries help raise money for charities ed by the Knights of Columbus, including Ramona Pregnancy Care Clinic, Feed the Hungry, Hearts and Hooves Therapy and Ramona Food and Clothes Closet.

We are also hosting a warm clothing drive for the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet.  Please consider dropping off any warm clothing/jackets, new socks/underwear, etc. at the fish fry entrance.
