San Diego’s trash plan needs a lot of cleaning up
This letter also was sent to San Diego City Council President Joe LaCava.
Once again, the City Council is deaf to the wishes and needs of the people.
The idea of adding [trash collection] services that many will not utilize is an extraordinarily example of hubris.
And then to continue to dig in to defend it is worse.
Charge for usage. Bigger bins, higher fee. Additional bins, higher fee. More frequent pickup, higher fee. Curbside pickup, hire a trash removal service.
As I drive around my neighborhood on trash collection day, I see many homes with no bins, as they don’t use or need weekly pickup. These people need and deserve a low-fee option. I want a low-cost, same-service option with a discount for smaller bins.
Also, I see many homes with multiple black bins, multiple blue bins, multiple green bins. In my opinion, there should be a collection fee for each bin in addition to having to purchase it.
