“Once”: Lamb’s Players Theatre opens its 2025 season with a revival of its award-winning 2018 production of “Once,” the Broadway musical based on the 2007 film about a lonely busker in Belfast, Ireland, who finds musical and romantic harmony with an immigrant woman from the Czech Republic. Botanist to speak at lagoon: The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation will host a free presentation by botanist and herpetologist Vince Scheidt. Scheidt will talk about his work with San Diego County reptiles and amphibians, including which species one might encounter around the lagoon. San Diego Chinese New Year Faire: For the 42nd time, the San Diego Chinese New Year Faire will take place. The two-day celebration will have lion and dragon dancers, lantern parades, martial arts performances, a children’s activity area, vendors selling Asian food and live music. How to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year in San Diego County

Black History Night: San Diego’s NBA G League team, the Clippers, will host a Black History Month celebration on Saturday. The festivities will begin with a pregame networking featuring local leaders. The game will feature cultural dance performances throughout and there will be interactive booths for fans to check out. At these Super Bowl watch parties in San Diego County, fans can find more than just the big game

Kook Run: The Kook Run is set to take off after a 7 a.m. welcome ceremony on Feb. 9, with thousands of runners, including world class athletes, competing for a $3,000 purse. The race starts under the “Encinitas” welcome sign on Coast Hwy 101, but it gets its name from a famous statue on its coastal route, commonly referred to as the “Cardiff Kook”  at the entrances to the San Elijo State Beach campground on Coast Highway 101.
