From the Archives heads today to the San Pasqual Valley in North County for this photo of the dedication ceremony for the then-named San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park in May 1972. In 2010, the Zoo board of directors changed the name to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. The park encomes 1,800 acres. (San Diego History Center)
