Concertgoers and community residents were treated to a surprise appearance by Will Smith on the streets of North Park Thursday night after his performance at Observatory North Park.
“San Diego,” the Grammy-winning rapper yelled into a megaphone as he walked around outside the venue surrounded by a thick crowd. He was outside to announce a new single.
“This is called, ‘Tantrum,’ and it’s me and Joyner Lucas, and it comes out right now,” he told the fans.
The new music video for the song was also shown on a screen between the North Park parking garage and the North Park Mini Park. A video posted by a fan on Instagram showed the rapper saying that the local fans would be the first to see it.
It was his second night performing there. The Observatory’s Instagram story showed the rapper performing hits such as “Wild Wild West” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.”
Smith can be seen g autographs and taking selfies with the crowd in videos posted to social media.
“It’s not every day that you get to meet one of the most famous people on the planet,” said an Instagram post from another fan who grabbed a selfie with “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” star.
