UPDATED:

Snapdragon Stadium will host a women’s soccer doubleheader on Feb. 26, when the United States Women’s National Team and three others play as part of the SheBelieves Cup.

The USWNT will take on Japan at 7:30 p.m. following Australia’s 4:30 p.m. match against Colombia. The games will air on Max, Universo and Peacock.

The matches continue to cement San Diego as a rising soccer hub for international play. Since opening in 2022, Snapdragon has hosted the USWNT three times and the U.S. Men’s National Team once. The home of the NWSL’s San Diego Wave and MLS’ San Diego FC, Snapdragon has also hosted Manchester United’s men for multiple exhibitions.

The United States’ opponent in San Diego, Japan, is ranked No. 7 in the world. Australia is 15th and Colombia is 21st.

“This will be my first SheBelieves Cup, but I’ve followed the tournament, and it always produces close games between top teams,” said USWNT coach Emma Hayes. “All four of these teams were in the last World Cup and Olympics, and all are in the building process to qualify for the next World Cup, so to get three games against talented teams and players in a format that replicates group play at a world championship is valuable in our process. All the games will be great tests for the teams and fun for all the fans.”

The SheBelieves Cup consists of six matches played over three days and sites, with the winner determined by most total points. Goal differential will break any ties.

San Diego marks the third and final stop of the mini-tournament: The teams will play Feb. 20 at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston and Feb. 23 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., before traveling to San Diego.

The matches should mark a chance to see many San Diego Wave FC stars in person. Midfielder Jaedyn Shaw and defender Naomi Girma were part of last summer’s United States Olympic team, which won a gold medal. Wave midfielder Emily van Egmond plays for Australia.
