Authorities have publicly identified a 62-year-old man who was killed last week in a late-night suspected DUI crash in Del Mar.

John Fraser of Solana Beach was a enger in a Maserati GranTurismo heading northbound when the car veered off the roadway on Coast Boulevard near 20th Street around 11:55 p.m. June 19. The car struck a parked pickup truck and a palm tree, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver, 52-year-old Elizabeth Brooks, allegedly ran away from the crash, sheriff’s officials said. Paramedics took Fraser — described as a friend of Brooks’ — to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the crash.

Deputies later tracked down Brooks and arrested her, sheriff’s Sgt. Jeremy Collis said.

She was hospitalized for treatment of injuries she had suffered in the car crash before being booked into county jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and gross vehicular manslaughter.
