Queer Mvmnt Fest: The third annual Queer Mvmnt Fest will be part of the San Diego-Tijuana World Design Capital 2024 and will feature Tijuana-based artists. The seven-day festival will offer workshops, discussions, film screenings and live performances in theater improv, ballet, bachata and punking/whacking dance and more. Resident Free Days: On Tuesdays throughout each month, different local museums open their doors for free to local residents. This week’s open venues are the San Diego Air & Space Museum, The Veterans Museum at Balboa Park and the Comic-Con Museum. balboapark.org/resident-free-days

Wednesday

Alison Brown: Grammy Award-winning banjo master, composer and band leader Alison Brown grew up in La Jolla, just a few miles from the site of her June 12 concert at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center. The first 100 ticket buyers can attend a pre-show Q&A, hosted by Jamie Deering, the CEO of Lemon Grove’s Deering Banjos. 7 p.m. June 12. ‘Escape to Margaritaville’: Moonlight Stage Productions presents this La Jolla Playhouse-born Broadway jukebox musical featuring the songs of the late Jimmy Buffett. ‘Modest Magic’: The California Center for the Arts Museum presents “A Practical Guide to Modest Magic,” a multidisciplinary contemporary art exhibition where college and university students on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border where challenged to create artwork that finds magic in the everyday. Summer Nights at Comic-Con: Starting tonight, on Fridays leading up to Comic-Con (except July 5), the Comic-Con Museum will be open late for its new Summer Nights event series. Each Friday evening will feature a different theme: cosplay, Dungeons & Dragons, competitive puzzle building, a kid-friendly crafting night and a zombicide game night.
