Retiring San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit said goodbye to his force Thursday during a walk-out ceremony at police headquarters attended by officers, city employees, officials, friends and family. He was a 36-year veteran of the department. He was the city’s top cop for more than six years. Now 59, Nisleit, a native San Diegan, started with the department in 1988, at 22 years old.
