Re “Is a new San Diego neighborhood group positive for the Uptown area">June 2): This 10-person U-T Econometer “jury” succinctly weighed in with their individual critiques. Each half-dozen-line thus informed readers about this hotly contested density and high-rise controversy. Their opinions thus helped with unraveling the Uptown’s neighborhood group replacement debate.
But there was an omnipresent ingredient missing. Where do these economists and executives live? The full impact of their views would be far more measurable if, for example, one were able to assess unstated factors that are reasonably associated with these respective judgments. For example, do any of them live in La Jolla? Its planning group was not ousted, while the Uptown planning group was replaced. Do any of them live in the Uptown area (Hillcrest, Mission Hills and Bankers Hill)? For planning groups that were thus replaced, did the selection process seek and obtain opinions ─ with regard to where published influencers reside?
