World premiere musical ‘Pásale Pásale’: TuYo Theatre presents the world premiere of this audience-interactive musical by Mario Vega and Eliza Vedar, set at a San Diego swap meet, where hard-working immigrant vendors fight for their humble way of life against a greedy landlord. Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series: Get ready for runners to overtake central San Diego, as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series will host a marathon, a half marathon and 5K races this weekend. The 5K is on Saturday followed by the half and full marathon races on Sunday. Valley Center Western Days: For almost 75 years, this western heritage celebration has been celebrated in Valley Center. It kicks off tonight with live music from the Harmony Grove Band, a food and beer garden, a chili cook-off and music from headliner Sazon Tumbao Band. On Saturday, there’s a pancake feed at Old Town Center from 7 to 10 a.m., followed by a parade along Valley Center Road from 10 a.m. to noon. Sacra/Profana: ‘A Space to Belong’: This innovative and captivating chorus will present the world premiere of native San Diego composer Cory Hibbs’ “Queer Spaces.” The multi-movement choral work draws from personal narratives of the composer, choir and of the queer community exploring the significance of safe spaces to the survival of any marginalized community.
