UPDATED:

With the recent fire at the battery facility in Otay Mesa and the fire at the water reclamation plant in Santee, From the Archives went looking for firefighter pictures and found this photo of a San Diego department fire crew with Aerial Truck No. 1. Chief Louis Almgren (white helmet) sits inside. Although the picture is undated, it’s probably from the early 1900s. Almgren was the chief engineer from 1909 to 1935. The San Diego Union-Tribune historical photos are provided by the San Diego History Center. To browse additional materials visit https://collections.sandiegohistory.org/.
