UPDATED:

San Diego State avoided a first-round upset in the NCAA Tournament.

But are the Aztecs ready for prime time? We’ll find out.

SDSU will take on Yale in the final game played in Spokane, Wash., on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to the Sweet 16. The Aztecs and Bulldogs will tip off at 6:40 p.m. in a game that will air on TBS. Lisa Byington, Steve Smith, Robbie Hummel and Lauren Shehadi will be on the call.

Yale, a No. 13 seed, upset fourth-seeded Auburn 78-76 on Friday afternoon, just after No. 5 SDSU beat No. 12 UAB 69-65. This marks the second straight year San Diego State will face a No. 13 seed with a chance to advance to the Sweet 16; it beat Furman a year ago after the Paladins upset No. 4 Virginia in the first round.

Sunday’s game will be played immediately after the 4:10 p.m. matchup between No. 4 Alabama and No. 12 Grand Canyon in Spokane. Both teams advanced Friday, with Alabama beating No. 13 College of Charleston 109-96 and No. 12 GCU topping No. 5 Saint Mary’s 75-66 in the first round’s final game.

The San Diego State-Yale winner will travel next week to Boston, where it’ll take on either top-seeded UConn or ninth-seeded Northwestern on Thursday in the East Regional semifinal. A UConn-SDSU matchup would be a rematch of last year’s national championship game, which the Huskies won.
