The Rancho Bernardo Little League held its opening day March 1 at the Majors Field.
This year there are 30 teams from T-Ball to Juniors, with 325 total players, said Little League President Aline Racic.
The ceremony featured the Swinging Friar, the San Diego Padres Mascot, who cheered on all the teams at the ceremony. In addition, all the teams wore uniforms from different Padre eras.
Another highlight was a motivational speech by Eric Weddle, former San Diego Charger (2007-2015) and former L.A. Rams safety (Super Bowl LVI winner), now head coach of the Rancho Bernardo High School football team.
