San Diego, CA - August 10:

On 17th Street, folks living in the encampment were informed the day before of a “24-Hour Notice of Cleanup and Property Removal.” Folks moved their personal items from the west side of the street to the east to make way for city workers to clean up. Is no burden too big for San Diegans to bear?

A storm infrastructure tax for storm drainage repair; homeowners told they are responsible for repairs of “city” sidewalks in front of their residence; taxes to solve the homeless problem.

What is next? A tax to solve the Ash Street debacle? A tax to repair our horrible roads? A tax for ???

If you want change in California, change those you elect

Does your vote matter? California has the fifth-highest tax rate and the third-highest cost of living, and housing costs continue to rise. Gas costs one-third more than elsewhere, yet deteriorating roads suffer even with the extra $14 billion our overtaxed gas generates annually. We have water and electricity problems, yet the last dam was built in 1980, and, in 2023, lack of maintenance made Lake Hodges release 11 billion gallons of badly needed water to the ocean. Our education system is rated 20th, yet we’re spending $35 billion-plus on a high-speed-rail project. Will this year’s expected $74 billion budget deficit cost us even more?

If people blindly vote along party lines, then little will change. If you want change, start voting more intelligently — don’t vote just along party lines, vote in the right person for the job.
