UPDATED:

Interfaith Community Services empowers people in need to stabilize and improve their lives through comprehensive programs, in partnership with diverse faith communities and people of comion. We were founded in 1979 as a direct response to rising rates of hunger and homelessness in North San Diego County. We provide both immediate safety net services and long-term, life-changing programs that work to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

We offer more than 75 programs including: emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, permanent ive housing, recuperative care, substance use disorder treatment, employment services, homelessness prevention, multiple models of case management, homeless outreach, basic needs (food, hygiene, mail service), behavioral health counseling, and referral and advocacy.

Our 2024 goals

Interfaith is unique in that we were the first organization in San Diego to set a goal of, and publicly commit to, housing a specific and significant number of people. We have set and achieved multiple goals of placing a precise number of individuals in safe, long‐term housing or assisting them in remaining stably housed. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Interfaith rapidly expanded services to serve more clients than in any other point in our history—becoming a trusted partner in the response to the pandemic’s devastating public health and economic impact.

Our ongoing goal is creating a continuum of care that provides the necessary resources to stabilize and rebuild the lives of local people in crisis.
