Arely’s French Bakery, a family-owned bakery and restaurant, is celebrating serving the Clairemont community for nearly 20 years.

Salvador Diaz, who started his career working with French pastry chefs throughout California, opened his bakery at 4961 Clairemont Drive in 2004.

In 2015, he added the restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The bakery and restaurant, which is named after Diaz’ daughter, is now run by his son, Kevin.

“Our breakfast is what makes us unique,” said Kevin Diaz. “We get a lot of compliments on our food saying that it tastes like it’s been made at home…everything here is made fresh.”

The 2,500-square-foot restaurant was remodeled in 2022, offering full service and online orders. A best-selling breakfast item is the breakfast club sandwich with eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, ham lettuce and tomato in between a triple deck of whole wheat bread.

Lunch and dinner specials include escargot de Bourgogne, a French onion burger with caramelized onions and chipotle aioli sauce, paninis, salads and more.

The menu also includes wine, beer, cocktails and coffee beverages made with Cafe Moto beans and teas from Tea Forte.

Croissants, cakes, desserts, tarts and other pastries are baked daily. Seasonal treats for the fall season include pumpkin spice croissants, gingerbread cookies shaped like autumn leaves, turkey-frosted shortbread cookies and crème brûlée.

The bakery’s Bûche De Noël (yule log) is a big hit and comes in four sizes and in three flavors: chocolate mousse, hazelnut and raspberry chocolate.

The restaurant is opened daily. Bakery orders must be placed 24 hours in advance.
