The two owners of Hart and Honey in Encinitas are sharing their ion for beautiful decor by specializing in warehouse sales with items collected from all over the globe.
The female-owned business opened in 2021 as a unique home-goods store, before evolving into the warehouse sale model. Co-owners Dana Gagnon and Lisa Desantis-Kirchmer — who also owns the interior design firm, Art of Walls Inc. — source all the inventory themselves.
“It’s definitely a dream to travel the world and find unique treasures and bring them to San Diego,” said Desantis-Kirchmer.
To browse each curated collection, shoppers must book an appointment online or attend one of the public sales that are scheduled throughout the month. The sales typically offer items such as pottery, wood pieces and home goods that are unusual, antique and vintage.
Some of the items transcend aesthetics. For example, the shop sells real Bodhi trees planted in limestone planters with raw crystals from Brazil to encourage customers to grow physically and spiritually along with the tree.
By next year, the duo hopes to introduce their own namesake collection — a line of home products like planters with modern shapes, textiles, rugs and furniture.
The items will be designed by artisans and will be inspired by different time periods to “create a new modern look or twist on something from the past,” Desantis-Kirchmer said.
Hart and Honey’s next public “Shop The Drop” sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at 583 South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas. The first 20 customers will receive 15 percent off their purchase.
To shop the collection early, on Sept. 20 and 21, appointments are needed and may be booked online at @harthoneyhome on Instagram.
