UPDATED:

San Diego County’s weather will turn unseasonably cool over the Labor Day weekend and drizzle could fall at the coast as the marine layer thickens, but significant rain isn’t expected at Petco Park during the Padres homestand.

The National Weather Service said a low-pressure system will prevent San Diego’s daytime high from rising above 76 on Saturday and 73 on Sunday and Monday. The seasonal high is 78.

Escondido will reach 81 on Saturday, 75 on Sunday and 77 on Monday.

Forecasters said that onshore winds will significantly thicken the marine layer and could produce a lot of mist in places such as Oceanside and La Jolla early Saturday. Isolated showers could occur in the valleys and foothills.

Skies are expected to be clear when the San Diego State University football team hosts Idaho State University on Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m. The temperature at kick-off is forecast to be 70.

Sea-surface temperatures will remain in the 65- to 68-degree range. They’re typically in the low 70s this time of year.
