UPDATED:

Knowledge is power and the greatest asset you can acquire in order to compete for a fantasy football championship.

Here’s your 2023 preview of the Los Angeles Chargers, the fourth of 32 team profiles during draft season:

2023 Fantasy MVP: Justin Herbert, QB

In three seasons, Herbert (ADP: 43) has finished as the overall QB9, QB2 and QB11 in fantasy. It’s fair to attribute last year’s dip to a rib injury that plagued him most of the season. A healthy campaign from the offensive line (a lot to ask from the Chargers) could push Herbert into the NFL MVP conversation.

2023 Fantasy Sleeper: Gerald Everett, TE

Everett (ADP: 156) was the overall TE14 in standard formats (TE13 in PPR) in his first season with the Chargers. The Bolts will likely remain one of the NFL’s most -heavy teams with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who has a history of featuring tight ends in his offense. Tight end is the most top-heavy position in fantasy, so finding this type of value in the later rounds can make a big difference.

2023 Fantasy Bust: Mike Williams, WR

In the last five seasons, Williams (ADP: 63) has finished as the overall WR20, WR37, WR42, WR9 and WR32 in standard formats. He will have his boom weeks, but his health history and Herbert’s plethora of potential targets mean it will be hard to trust him every week. Plus, there should be receivers with much more upside available where he’s currently being drafted.

2023 Fantasy Rookie to watch: Quentin Johnston, WR

Another reason I’m down on Williams is there seems to be a lot of overlap in what he does well compared to Johnston (ADP: 109). Both can win down-the-field and thrive in contested catch situations, but Johnston is the more explosive player at this point. He’ll force more missed tackles when he has the ball in his hands — his 8.9 YAC in 2022 was No. 2 in the FBS.
