Comic-Con International starts Wednesday, July 19, at the San Diego Convention Center with a preview night that helps attendees get badges early and avoid long lines the next day.
The Wednesday schedule is typically fairly light with only one or two events. This year’s preview night is busier than last year — which just had one event — with a showing of several Warner Bros. TV shows.

Teaching and Learning with Comics
This is the hands-on workshop for anyone looking to use comics in a classroom. Peter Carlson (Green Dot Public Schools), Susan Kirtley (Portland State University), and Antero Garcia (Stanford University) guide educators in curating powerful classroom curricula, from mini-lessons to complete units, that incorporate the medium of comics. Participants engage in all new activities that model how to develop superhero readers and writers in K-12 classrooms. Shiley Special Events Suite, San Diego Central Library, 4-6 p.m. July 19
