CORONADOCORONADO — When asked for his thoughts about his beloved USC preparing to leave the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, actor and comedian Will Ferrell paused.
Hit the one liner? Or go serious?
“At first, it felt super sad to me as a nostalgic purist,” Ferrell said Friday before playing in the Cancer for College golf tournament at the Coronado Golf Course. “I was like, this makes no sense. So, (USC) volleyball is going to have to fly for a Tuesday night game at Rutgers? Then the reality of the situation came through. (USC) did its darndest to stay. So now I’m like, OK, let’s go beat up on the Big Ten.”
Shattering traditions also means creating new ones, he said.
“The positive side is that will be the one road trip game for so many teams, to come to L.A. and go to the Coliseum or Rose Bowl,” Ferrell said.
Ok, now the one liner.
“I can’t wait to go to Purdue,” he said. “That’s always been on my bucket list.”
