An open letter from 10 San Diego Country Estates residents to John Souza, owner of the San Vicente Shopping Center property
Mr. Souza:
It has been recently disclosed that Ace Hardware, located at 23642 San Vicente Road, will be closing due to what we consider an exorbitant rent increase.
Mr. Souza, this property has gone through numerous changes over the years; all of which were abruptly closed resulting in harm to our community.
Now we face losing Ace Hardware, which has become an essential business that fulfills a great community need. During these difficult times of COVID-19, ACE has been successfully providing critical services ensuring the needs of the community that are not only met, but exceeded.
Why be part of a community if you are not going to the needs of it? What good is your achieved success if you don’t allow others the same prosperity?
Bottom line: Do the right thing and reconsider this rent increase; put the needs of the community over what is being perceived as greed. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the community think for once that John Souza did the right thing, instead of the criticism you regularly face?
What do you say? Can you come through for us and just do the right thing?
Thank you for listening and we look forward to your reconsideration.
