If you are moving and need to clean out stuff, what do you do with it during coronavirus?

Stay-at-home orders have been fabulous for cleaning and organizing our homes. I don’t know about you, but I’m out of space to store items that are ready to go to donation. But most donation places have been closed for the last couple of months until this week.

I’m thankful Ramona Food & Clothes Closet reopened this past Monday for donation drop offs and shopping: household and clothing drop-offs Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot; furniture and sporting equipment at the drive-through, Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and store shopping Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No word yet on when our local Goodwill may open again for donations.

There are aslo other local options to off load what you no longer need.

Here in Ramona, we have many Facebook pages to post items worthy of selling. Some of those are Ramona Buy Sell Trade, Ramona Deals, Ramona Online Flea Market, Ramona Yard Sale or Ramona Deals Now, to name a few. There are also plenty of sites for other areas of our county if your items need a different audience.

How about the items you plan on keeping, but could pack and store for your move and get some of the work out of the way or declutter the look or your home for selling?

Alternatives to just the day-of-moving trucks, are services that bring packing boxes or sea train containers to you, available in different size, which you pack on your own property.

Some stay on your property until you are ready to move, then the service moves the packed storage units to your new home for you to unpack. Other services will remove the storage units from your property once you have packed them, store them elsewhere until you move, and then deliver the storage units to your new home to unpack.

Other services will pick up your items and transport them to storage for you and then transport them to your new home. If you are staying in the same area, you can do it all yourself and rent a storage unit at a storage facility —Ramona has several such storage facilities.

These options have varying prices, so make sure to do your research or ask your local Realtor for recommendations.

If you need help or recommendations, reach out to your knowledgeable local Realtor or look one up at rrea.org. We are here for you. Stay Safe!
