The summer show-and-shine season is in full chat and Griot’s Garage is out with a pair of new detailing products.
Its aerosol Foaming Tire Cleaner cuts through brake dust and routs road grime to prepare the sidewalls for step two, dressing the tires.
First, spray on a thick layer of the cleaner and let the foam sizzle for 3 to 5 minutes. When the foam looks brownish, give it a good scrub with a soft brush and then rinse or wipe the tire clean. It’s safe for whitewalls and raised-white-lettered tires.
When the tires are rejuvenated to a flat shade of grayish black, they are ready for a full black dressing. But which style of dressing is right for your ride? Griot’s offers several, including a wet look, dry look and various levels of protection and whether you prefer a spray, aerosol or gel. And there’s always the original Vinyl & Rubber Dressing that was introduced more than 20 years ago.

The foaming tire cleaner is $7.99 for a 19-ounce spray can. Order it and other garage necessities at griotsgarage.com or call (800) 345-5789.
Interior Detailer
The interior of new vehicles is a complex multi-surface environment and often showcased by broad and glossy infotainment screens that get all smudged up with fingerprints and French-fry residue.
Cleaning the various materials — piano black trim, soft-touch paint, plastics, metal and glass — hasn’t been a one-cleaner job. But Griot’s new aerosol Interior Detailer makes quick cleanup of dust, dirt and fingerprints and has a natural-look finish with no greasy feel or residue. And it applies some protection from harmful UV rays, particularly on audio and navigation screens.
The fine spray works well on screens, Griot’s says, because it is a dry application, which protects sensitive electronics from moisture accumulation. And it’s silicone free with a light citrus scent.
A 16.5-ounce aerosol can is $8.99 at stores and online at griotsgarage.com.
RVcare seal conditioner
You wouldn’t leave your sunscreen at home when going on vacation, so RV owners shouldn’t hit the open road without the UV protection in the new 3-IN-ONE RVcare Rubber Seal Conditioner, said Patricia Olsem, USA general manager at San Diego-based WD-40 Co.
“The very sun RVers seek can cause rubber seals to crack and fade,” Olsem said in a release. “Rubber Seal Conditioner protects against UV rays thereby helping to extend the life of rubber slide-outs and other seals, which means RV owners can avoid expensive visits to an RV mechanic.”
Poorly maintained rubber slide-out seals will deteriorate and crack, which can allow water, dirt, wind and even rodents to enter the coach or trailer, she said.
RVcare Rubber Seal Conditioner has a proprietary UV shield to help block the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays. When used regularly, the conditioner will reduce friction and wear on slide-out seals.
The conditioner also protects rubber seals on windows, doors, compartments and hatches, and it can be used on rubber seals on boats, cars and other vehicles. It is also safe to use on metal, rubber, vinyl and most plastic surfaces.
At Walmart, an 11-ounce aerosol can is $6.98.
The 3-IN-ONE line of RV products includes the RVcare Slide-Out Silicone Lube and Window & Track Dry Lube.
